Prenatal care for emotional and physical health

Prenatal Massage

A much needed addition to your prenatal self-care. Prenatal Massage with an orthopedic massage therapy approach alleviates back pain, relieves muscle aches and joint pains, improves sciatica nerve discomfort, reduces swelling, improves circulation, reduces anxiety, eases insomnia, carpal tunnel pain.

I am certified in Prenatal massage. I address specific massage needs and avoid to put pressure on certain pressure points. As the baby grows, belly massage during the third trimester feels good. But it is optional and your level of comfort is priority. The best position for prenatal massage is side-lying, I provide adequate pillows for maximum comfort.

Is prenatal massage safe throughout the entire pregnancy?

Women can begin massage therapy at any point in their pregnancy but because of the increased risk for miscarriage associated with the first 12 weeks of pregnancy please consult your health professional to make sure it is safe for you. Deep pressure work on legs is avoided as pregnant women can be susceptible to blood clots.

Please speak to your health provider prior to booking a session if you have experienced or have the following conditions:

  • High-risk pregnancy

  • Pregnancy-induced hypertension (PIH)

  • Preeclampsia

  • Previous pre-term labor

  • Experiencing severe swelling, high blood pressure, severe headaches
